During our regular service at 10:15 a.m., we will have a parish-wide discussion about decisions that St. Andrew’s, as a whole, needs to make before it can call a new rector.
Chief among those decisions is whether St. Andrew’s is called by the Holy Spirit and has the resources to call a full-time rector. St. Andrew’s must demonstrate, with a three-year budget, that it can pay the full compensation and benefits cost of a rector without substantial invasion of our investments or endowments.
There are other options to a full-time rector. On these two Sundays we will discuss, together, the options available and the budget necessary to support the various options. The purpose of these two Sunday discussions is for you, a member of this parish, to discern where you believe the Holy Spirit is leading us. Your participation is critical. Your voice is needed. This is a parish decision- not that of the Vestry or any individual member.
September 11th – we will discuss ministry as outlined in the Book of Common Prayer. What do you understand a rector is called to do? What are the trade-offs between full-time or part-time? What does this mean financially?
September 18th – Having had a week to consider our discussion, what questions do you have as we move forward?
