We have a new category on our website, “Advent Reflections”, thanks to Deb Beck, who hopes other members of St. Andrew’s will join her in offering their thoughts on the meaning of Advent and Christmas as well. This is the note that Deb wrote to the congregation on November 28th, the First Sunday of Advent this year;
To all at St. Andrews:
The Season of Advent has been celebrated every evening in our home for many years, so it is a very special time for my family. I was talking with Jenny Heithaus today about how we might make the season more meaningful for our youth, and the idea formed into an attempt to email to the whole congregation daily Advent meditations, with the hope you will find time to reflect on how you might be transformed during this blessed season.
I have attached a meditation for today, the First Sunday of Advent.
I invite you to take a moment to open and read it today, and light a candle, or make an advent wreath to share with your family.
I’m sorry this email is coming so late in the day. I Promise to have another in your mailbox earlier tomorrow.
I will talk a bit about the story behind the Advent Wreath, and how you can make one. For now, you should know that Week 1 is the Week of Hope. I hope you will find this little message, offered prayerfully, useful or meaningful to you.
Humbly,
Deb Beck
