Advent Hope

“And now, Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in thee.” – Psalms 39.7

First Week of Advent: HOPE

Sunday, November 28, 2010

The season of Advent is here. To echo Fr. Bill’s message of this morning, Advent, like Lent, is a time of preparation. But unlike Lent, this is a joyous season, a season of glad anticipation of the birth of Jesus, our Savior. This is a season to look into our hearts and ask, “how do I prepare?”

We look forward to the coming of the Christ, the Light of the world, and we want to be ready to receive Him. What does that mean? How do we get ready? It is difficult sometimes to see how we need to be “rearranged”, in order to truly and fully open our hearts. Can we take just a few moments from our hectic day to stop and reflect on what it is we need to do to find and live in the Hope of God’s Promise of salvation? Who doesn’t have time to pause just for a moment?

Today’s Meditation is borrowed from a beautiful website I found today:

“Lord, the light I choose to let into my life today is based on my trust in

You. It is a weak flame but I so much desire that it dispel a bit more darkness today. Today, I just want to taste the longing I have for You as I go to the meeting this morning, carry out the responsibilities of my work, face the frustration of some difficult relationships. Let this candle be my reminder today of my hope in Your coming.”*

Today’s Song:

This little light of mine,

I’m gonna let it shine.

This little light of mine,

I’m gonna let it shine.

This little light of mine,

I’m gonna let it shine.

Let it shine,

Let it shine

Let it shine.
