St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church
September 16, 2012
Dear People of St. Andrews:
It is hard to believe that 15 months have passed since I joined you as Interim Rector. This has been a wonderfully rich and fruitful period as St. Andrew’s transitioned from the ministry of Rev. Bill Wieland to begin the process of discerning who St. Andrew’s is called to be going forward.
It has been an honor to serve with you in this journey. We have had much fun together while also engaging in the serious work of listening for God’s will. Each of you has been part of this journey in many different ways. Thanks to your prayers and hard work, you have empowered the Search Committee to identify and express some of those hopes and dreams and understanding of God’s call to and for you.
Some of what we have tried during this interim period you may wish to continue when the new rector comes. Some of it you may want to tweak. Some of it you may decide not to continue. This is the nature and benefit of an interim period. Do not be afraid to continue this good work.
It is now time for me to transition into another parish. My last Sunday with you will be November 4, 2012 which is, fittingly enough, All Saints Sunday. A day when we remember all who have helped to shape us into who we are and who walk with us as we become who God is calling us to be. My last day in the office will be November 7. I will then take a week of vacation before starting my new ministry, as priest-in-charge at St. John’s Crawfordsville on November 16, 2012.
I give God thanks for you and for all the possibilities ahead of you as the Episcopal Church in Greencastle, Indiana.
With love and prayers, The Rev. Jan Oller
